EHFA BUILDS ITS FIRST SCHOOL: RISING WORLD ACADEMY

Moto: Children Rising to Impact the World

Rising World Academy School began out of a need seen by the founder, Vivian Childs, during a return visit to Ghana in 2012. She saw the need for greater access to education and healthcare in the areas she visited. Using the funds she had taken as “spending money,” she completed all the government-required forms to develop the non-profit government organization (NGO)-Education and Health for Africa. She was able to use the remaining funds to build and erect a four-classroom wooden structure school named the Rising World Academy School aimed to educate young boys and girls while encouraging them to strive hard to become good citizens who will impact their community’s future.

In 2015, EHFA registered RWA with the Ghana Education System (GES) and obtained a license to operate Creech (Daycare), Nursery, Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High School.

Through the result of Vivian’s initial effort, EHFA was able to hire a headmaster, two teachers, and two part-time teacher assistants for Rising World Academy. At its very beginning stage, the academy has 14 children ranging from 6 months to 12 years old.

This is just the beginning. As of January 2022, we currently have an enrollment of fewer than 120 children.  EHFA will build bigger learning centers and community health care centers within the local area.

THE RISING WORLD ACADEMY: Junior High School (JHS) GRADES EDUCATION

Children are taught the general curriculum using a learning-by-doing approach along with each one teaching one approach. Students are taught the theoretical information about each subject then they are given activities to apply that knowledge to real-life applications that have the goal of assisting them in making improvements to their communities in the future.

Our goal is to show these students that the results achieved can be continuous and have lasting effects while creating a stronger commitment to their communities and possibly decreasing brain drain (educated and trained citizens moving to other communities) which adversely affects the communities they left.

Sending your child to school is the biggest step parents take in providing their children a solid and excellent foundation for their future education. Rising World Academy provides wonderful surroundings and opportunities to learn, which is important in students’ social lives.

It is through play that students learn about themselves and their environment which promotes concentration, physical effort, and perseverance. Activities are thought about well in advance to give first-hand access to a broad and balanced curriculum.
